Some Gifts Ask You to Show Up.
kar.ma COFFEE × Makaii

There’s a version of corporate gifting that’s optimised for the sender — frictionless, forgettable, done. Makaii believes a gift should leave something behind — a place to go, a moment to look forward to, and a memory worth keeping.

What Makaii does is give employees a reason to go somewhere, and make sure that somewhere is worth going to. A specific place, with a specific atmosphere, making something you can’t get anywhere else.

A pause, as the aroma of coffee fills the air, followed by the movement of golden liquid flowing in the cup, pronounced our approach at Kar.ma. In an audacious move, we decided to put a dot in the term ‘Karma’ itself, signifying a mindful stop before making a mindful movement.

kar.ma is one of those places.

Our coffee comes from four villages in the Himalayan highlands — Mangsebung, Soyak, Gati, Banegaun — grown at altitude, directly sourced, roasted with intention. The brand extends beyond coffee: artisanal chocolate, handmade ceramics, candles made from coffee by-products, soaps wrapped in recycled sari pouches. Everything made in Nepal, with Nepali hands, telling a Nepali story. Nothing outsourced. Nothing generic. Nothing wasted — only transformed.

When a company gives a Makaii gift card redeemable at kar.ma, they’re handing over an invitation to an experience — one with a beginning, a middle, and an end. That three-part arc is what generic gifts can never replicate. A place where you brew a pour-over with Himalayan water, or discover that your chocolate was spiced with cardamom grown by the same farmers who grew your coffee — that becomes a memory. And memories are what people attach meaning to.

“It’s not just about coffee. It’s all about coffee.”
